There was a bonfire at my friends house Saturday night. Its fascinating how fire can be so captivating and beautiful but frightening at the same time. It was a fun night full of toasted marshmallows, hot dogs, singing, an attempt to find the moon, and cold toes and noses.
We greeted the morning with coffee and then bundled up to begin our quest for fire-weed.

This is mainly what we were looking for, (sorry about my mitten on corner) the dried up tall leafy stalks. I hope you can tell what I'm talking about. They're really easy to pull up and then all we had to do was rub off the leaves. Sometimes you'd have to unbury the fire weed from under the snow.
We gathered a whole lot more than just this, but I forgot to take a picture of the whole amount. I'm not sure when we'll be able to do the next step, which is to soak them in lye, since we have so much going on these next few weekends with Halloween and all. I'll be sure to post pictures of my costume (I'm gonna be Little Red Ridinghood!) and if I can, the 50's and 60's party at church. Lots is happening.
Love, Clara
