Costuming!

Well, I have some kind-of big news I should have shared earlier. I got to help costume the summer arts festival! which means I got to spend about seven hours surrounded by this.

!!!!
I was exhausted by the end of the day, but it was such a great experience. I hope I can do a whole lot more of this sort of thing in the future.
The pictures turned out kind of ugly, but in truth the place felt like a dream. If all of it had been mine I would have wanted to never leave. I mean, see those boxes of skirts? I would have worn most of them as they are and the ones I didn't I could change into something I would.
All of the boxes on that wall are full of fabric, this room was a mess, but there are so many treasures there!

Hats. Lots of hats, isn't that black and white one incredible? I think it must have been from My Fair Lady.
Just one of the bins containing more hats, most, if not all, are vintage as well.
SHOES. Those brown ones in the lower left corner are my favorites, they are perfectly beat up and are t-straps with cut out work on the toes.

It was such a fun day, and tomorrow I get to go watch the show. Tomorrow is also fair entry day, so we're staying up late to get everything ready. I have pictures of some of my entries to show you, (I made that beret!) but my mom borrowed the cable that transfers the photos from my camera to the computer and never gave it back. So I can't show you it until I find the cable. I need to go now, but I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer, and I'll try to be back soon.

thank you for your comment. yes I did link you ages ago because I thought your blog was lovely :)

I made a dress for a fashion show, and there's nothing to beat it, losing oneself in the stitches.

take care
